Patients and citizens driving change in the transformation of the healthcare model
Costaisa has attended a new edition of the Cycle of sessions on Transformations in the Health System that has the endorsement of EIT Health, Fundación Signo, ITEMAS and SEDISA, and that on this occasion it has focused on the role of patients and citizens in the transformation of the healthcare model.
The event was attended by Julián Isla, promoter of Fundación 29, Cristina Mallol Domínguez, Head of the Program for Minority Diseases of the Catalan Health System, and Inmaculada Vázquez Cruz, from the Subdirectorate of Health Management of Andalusia, who have been moderated by Francesc Iglesias, Assistant to the Directorate of the Institut Català de la Salut.
The experts consulted agreed that there is still a long way to go to incorporate new forms of patient participation in the current healthcare model, and pointed out the importance of integrating clinical data from hospital information systems, together with data generated by the patient (PROMs, PREMs, structured forms, etc.) and generated by Artificial Intelligence or captured by medical devices and wellness devices.
The Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROM) and the Patient Reported Experience Measures (PREM) offer results on the state of health and experience of a patient collected by the patient himself, electronically and without the mediation of any health professional, and it is precisely one of our main lines of innovation today, since we have included them in our telemedicine platform Phemium.
The first proof of its effectiveness has been the development of a new telepharmacy service called "naveta" that allows monitoring pharmacological treatments at home thanks to the modeling submission and follow-up of forms to obtain data reported by patients, and which recently has obtained the Innovation Award from the Spanish Society of Hospital Pharmacy.
The project is led by the association FARUPEIB (Pharmaceutical Units of External Patients Illes Balears) is made up of a group of specialists who work in Hospital Pharmacy of the Balearic Islands Hospitals: Son Espases University Hospital, Can Misses Hospital, Mateu Orfila Hospital, Son Llàtzer Hospital, Inca Hospital and Manacor Hospital.
