HIMSS brings together Spanish CIOs to explain how they have coped with the crisis

Doctor con tabletClínica Universidad de Navarra, Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre and Hospital de Denia, have been invited by HIMSS to explain their experiences and the lessons they have learned in recent weeks. In a short period of time and in days of long and intense work, IT managers from all over the country and service providers have managed to expand coverage and guarantee availability of the systems in the face of these new conditions that have come upon us with the crisis.

Healthcare activity in recent weeks has been shared between public hospitals and private clinics, and it has also moved in the main centers to hotels and sports halls, a fact that has required overcoming many challenges and evidencing the great burdens of the system: lack of resources, unconnected information systems, activity overload in healthcare teams, legal constraints, poorly developed data exploitation or persistence of traditional healthcare models, among others.

Telemedicine has been a great ally these days, but in general, its use is not widespread and its deployment is very limited in Spain. At Costaisa we have accompanied many leading organizations in the country in this process of change, and where we have obtained better results are those that have internalized that it is a strategic channel to provide services and technology that must be integrated with its IT ecosystem.

The conference has been organized by the HIMSS chapter in Spain and has brought together professionals, managers and health authorities from all over the country, to take good note of everything that has happened, analyze it thoroughly and make the necessary decisions to be better prepared for the next crisis.
