Costaisa obtains the carbon footprint seal and registers with MITECO’s official registry
Costaisa has obtained the 2024 Carbon Footprint Seal issued by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) and has registered its calculation in the official Registry of Carbon Footprint, Offset, and Carbon Dioxide Absorption Projects. This registration is carried out within the framework of the new legal requirements that, effective from June 12, 2025, introduce the obligation to calculate and publish the carbon footprint and reduction plans for certain entities, including most companies operating in Spain.
The granting of the ministerial registry seal is based on the submission of a rigorous and documented measurement of greenhouse gas emissions associated with Costaisa's activity for fiscal year 2024including direct emissions from owned sources (boiler combustion, company vehicles, refrigerant leaks) and indirect emissions from the purchase and consumption of electricity, heat, or steam generated outside the company.
This seal, whose interpretative guide has been published by MITECO, differentiates the various levels of participation of registered organizations based on their progress in calculating, reducing, and offsetting emissions.
The carbon footprint is a key indicator for managing carbon dioxide and other gas emissions linked to business activity. The officially registered and ministerially endorsed measurement provides an objective framework for traceability and comparability of Costaisa's annual results in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and current climate policies.
By registering and obtaining the seal, Costaisa not only complies with the applicable regulatory framework but also places its emissions calculation and management processes within a verifiable and public context, adding technical clarity and consistency to its sustainability reports. The seal is granted for one year and includes different levels of contribution, ranging from calculation to documented reduction or offsetting.
