The Consortium shares with its associates the capabilities of using PROM and PREM for patient monitoring
Costaisa and FARUPEIB have conducted the webinar "Naveta with Phemium PRM" for entities associated with the Consorci de Salut i Social de Catalunya (CSC). This event was part of the new format of activities called "SLOTS" on the CoNNectaCSC platform, where innovative solutions are presented in a space of 20 to 30 minutes.
Dr. Gabriel Mercadal, President of FARUPEIB and Adjunct to the Pharmacy Service at the Mateu Orfila Hospital in Menorca, was responsible for presenting Naveta, his initiative for value-based care using PROM questionnaires (to measure disease activity, quality of life, productivity, side effects, or adherence, among others) and PREM (to evaluate patient experience and satisfaction in their care process) for patient monitoring, in which Costaisa participates as a technological partner.
Naveta is a clear example of Value-Based Medicine, as it promotes and evaluates the impact of using care protocols and allows observing the results of prescribed treatments. It gives patients a voice so they can be protagonists of the care model, determine their priorities, and play an active role in treating their disease.
Upon completion, the main keys to incorporating this solution into healthcare organizations were shared. It is essential that projects involve hospital pharmacy, nursing, and clinicians to ensure a comprehensive approach, and Dr. Mercadal advised starting with Dermatology since results can be observed immediately. Similarly, it is crucial to have the support of management to guarantee the project's success.
Rafael Pardo, senior eHealth consultant at Costaisa, explained the main implementation scenarios for the solution, integrating or not with the clinical management systems of the center depending on the underlying technology.
Dr. Antoni Gilabert, Director of Innovation at CSC, highlighted the opportunities offered by making health outcomes tangible in prescribed treatments and announced the initiative of the patronage to make the solution available to associated entities to incorporate the use of PROM/PREM questionnaires in their processes.
The CSC is one of the main healthcare patronages in Catalonia and has over a hundred entities with activity in the healthcare and social sector, deeply rooted in the municipal area of the territories where they are a reference center.
