Governance, ethics and explainability: keys to the future of AI applied in healthcare
Costaisa Group has recently participated in the "AI in Health: an interdisciplinary challenge" day held in Barcelona, a gathering that brought together key figures from clinical, technological, and management fields, aiming to address the main challenges in incorporating artificial intelligence into the healthcare sector. The event was organized by the Interdisciplinary Group of Health-Linked Professionals (GIPS), in collaboration with BioInformatics Barcelona, FENIN, the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Area of the Barcelona Medical Association (CoMB), and Medidedàlia.
The event served as a meeting point to analyze and discuss challenges involving clinical data training, the contextualization and explainability of AI systems for professionals and patients, information governance, traceability and auditing of models, as well as their monitoring and the need for transparent protocols ensuring ethical and regulatory compliance.
The day raised critical reflections about the human and technological impact of AI in healthcare, including shared responsibility and change management from an inclusive perspective, always oriented towards improving wellbeing and care quality. Traceability in artificial intelligence models and their auditable performance are now more than ever requirements to offer reliable and sustainable solutions in the health sector.
