Costaisa has participated in the conference "The opportunity of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence in clinical decision making and health evaluation" organized by Bioinformatics Barcelona (BIB) in the Assembly room of the Barcelona University's School of Medicine.
With a full capacity again, the nearly 300 attendees were able to know the advances in the application of big data and artificial intelligence in the clinical-care setting to increase the accuracy and personalization of medicine safely and effectively. During the session the issues that need to be addressed from a legal, social and ethical point of view were also reviewed, as well as the state of the matter from the point of view of clinical research and the regulation of medicines and health products. It is worth mentioning the table moderated by Xavier Pastor, Head of Medical Informatics at the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, who talked about the barriers in the application of these technologies based on the feeling of ignorance due to a deficit of academic training in the subject, for fear of losing privacy and ownership of the data, and because of the skepticism in the quality of the same data.
The BIB is an association that promotes the field of bioinformatics in all its dimensions from training to research, or innovation within the industrial sector. It is currently made up of more than 50 institutions related to the sector such as Costaisa, which develops its activities in the field of health and insurance, from the perspective of information technologies.
