First cybersecurity meeting for the hospital, medtech and pharma sectors

Cyberhealth summitCostaisa attended the Cyberhealth & Pharma congress, which brought together cybersecurity authorities and managers from the healthcare, medical technology and pharmaceutical industries to discuss the main challenges facing the healthcare sector.

Pol Pérez, Director of the Information Systems Area of the Servei Català de la Salut, who participated in the opening ceremony, stressed the need for a global vision of healthcare information systems that includes, in addition to the HIS (Health Information System), the rest of the departmental systems, electromedicine equipment and other devices such as TVs or refrigerators, which can also be connected and be a possible point of vulnerability.

"In 2022, 53% of the 543 healthcare entities consulted had suffered ransomware attacks, leading to a halt in healthcare activity, and a security attack is being managed every 8 hours in the Catalan Health System," Pérez points out. There is still a long way to go in the hospital sector, as a good part of the centers still do not comply with the National Security Scheme (ENS), a regulation that establishes the security measures that Spanish Public Administrations and the companies that collaborate with them in the provision of services must comply with.

Four years ago, Costaisa was certified in the ENS for its consulting, technological solutions implementation and service outsourcing (development, systems administration, hosting and user support) activities in the health and insurance sectors. Recently, it has reinforced its position in cybersecurity in health with the incorporation of Davinci TI into the Costaisa Group, a consultancy firm with more than 20 years advising the main security managers of medium and large corporations in our country.
