BIB presents an application of big data in healthcare in association with Genomics England

Costaisa attended the technical session on big data Bioinformatics for 100,000 genomes organised by the Bioinformatics Barcelona Association (BIB) at the CosmoCaixa, where a talk was given by Dr. Augusto Rendon, Director of Bioinformatics at Genomics England and Principal Research Associate at the University of Cambridge.

During the talk, he spoke about how they are building a secure computer infrastructure to manage and interpret this data.

BIB is a non-profit association that promotes training, research and innovation in the field of bioinformatics, and its application in the industrial sector.

Genomics England was created to deliver the 100,000 Genomes Project in the United Kingdom and to bring whole genome sequencing to clinical practice and research. The program recruits participants from over 70 hospitals organised in 13 regional centres in the United Kingdom.
